I Have A Dream

I Have A Dream

THERE ISN’T MUCH TO SAY ABOUT MARTIN LUTHER KING that hasn’t already been said.  In fact, a visit to the MLK National Historic Site is more of a pilgrimage than a learning experience.  You have probably seen all the photos inside, watched the film clips and listened to King’s sermons.

   Walk of Fame

But you haven’t read the names on the Walk of Fame — those influenced by MLK and who carried on his work.  Missing are those who came before, on to  whose shoulders King stood.  Dred Scott, Nat Turner, Frederick Douglas, Harriet Tubman and hundreds of less know proponents of equality.  The sole exception is a robed statue of Gandhi.

    MLK Boyhood Home

A neighborhood walk takes you past the Ebenezer Baptist Church where MLK preached to his boyhood home, places that helped form the champion for Civil Rights in America.
