Instead, I travel the world and spend time looking for ways to help those who are less fortunate than myself. My passion is taking photos in cultural communities. I've been lucky enough to photograph the slums of India, townships in South Africa and an indigenous village in Panama, among others. The photographs seen here were taken of the Embera tribe in Panama. After swiftly and peacefully gliding through the river in a handmade canoe, I arrived at this discreet village along the jungles edge. I watched in amazement as the people went about their day; to my left women stood painting their bodies with a dye made from the berry of the genip tree, to my right a group of teenagers practiced playing their musical instruments, all the while children ran in and out of their huts playing childish games as they unknowingly threaded the village together. I believe it's the children that make a community whole.
