My 2014 Travel Writing Scholarship - Euro Roadtrip entry

PORTUGAL | Wednesday, 30 April 2014 | Views [223] | Scholarship Entry

I will never forget the day I asled myself: "if I died now, would I have lived enough?" The answer was yes, even though I was just a fifteen year old girl who never even had known love. And the reason for this is because I was born lucky. Lucky to have a parent that has allowed me to see the world, to see things that most fifteen year-olds never even dreamt about. I have felt the sun burning my skin on a long hike to Sugarloaf mountain and I have felt the snow melt on my tongue in Finland. I have made braids in Cape Verde and patted lions in South Africa and in all of these experiences the thing I always felt more strongly about was that I was really living not passing my days as human and from that moment on I have vouched to make it my life's mission to continue living it.
