A 'place' I have visited

I am Thomas Bongani Hart (a.k.a Trailblazing Tomtom), a wondering academic, adventurer and human rights activist. Born an African, my love for Africa has taken me all over the continent doing research on how to better the lives of people such as the Bushmen in the Kalahari to fishermen in Mozambique and now refugees in parts of Eastern Africa. During these travels I have taken it upon myself to learn the skills of photography as a hobby. However, photography has taken over my soul and now I am wanting make it a profession in telling stories of hope, achievement and inspiration in Africa in order to move the continent forward in more positive perspective in the eyes of the world. Thus, with my passion, talents and skills in the creative arts, making this world a better and turning every path walked upon into a adventure, I am your man, your photographer and your eager and willing student for this scholarship in travel photography in the white wilderness of Greenland. With an eye for the magical and curiosity of a nomandic storyteller, I can make the greatest contribution towards the scholarship for both the organizations and myself.

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

IFor the last year I have travelled around the world after graduating from a Masters, where I have picked up a passion and creativity for photography and adventure. My creativity and passion for photography and adventure come from my family background where I had a famous South African artist as a mother and a Apartheid struggle activist as a father. Many years of my childhood where spend adventuring with my parents into Zululand to find traditional zulu potters and the remains of an ancient Bushman shelters. Due to these experiences I have always had a talent in the creative arts and orchestrating adventures no matter where. I have four degrees to my names ranging from ceramics, to media and marketing, film and development communication. However, my heart and dreams are faithfully committed to a career in travel photography and adventuring where I wish to work for companies such as National Geographic and conquer feats that challenge my body, mind and soul like Mike Horn. Due to my extensive work and passion in the arts and my love for exotic destinations, cultures, indigenous people, and humanity, I feel I am the right person for this scholarship/internship.

Photos: The Fishermen and their Daughters

A day spent walking along the coastline of Kerala in India where I came upon a large fishing town and then a small fishing village where I watched Indian fishermen prepare for the day, push their boats out to sea and bring in the day's catch.
