My name is Amanda, I’m 22 years old and a journalism student from Brazil. Obviously, I’m passionate about travelling and photography, but it was my curious personality that led me to this scholarship’s way. A few weeks ago, I took part in a 5 days seminar about environment and the media. We have discussed issues of sustainability, climate change, biodiversity, and even how art and nature can come together. It was a totally new theme for me, but I was amazed to find out how relatable it was to my life and how I could use it to impact other people’s lives. During that seminar, I also had the chance to see how National Geographic photographers work; more specifically, I had a chat with Luciano Candisani, a very renowned Brazilian nature photographer. His stories intrigued me and inspired me to seek new adventures wherever I can. So that’s my deal from now on. I want to go where other people didn’t, tell stories people haven’t heard yet. I want to make people notice how special the environment around them can be, but also be amazed with all the hidden gems we have around the world.
