Photography is a wonderful surprise happened in my life about a decade ago. When I was a young boy, we never had a camera in our home and taking photos were reserved only for two occasions, either someone getting married or dying! My father also thought it was a waste of money to buy a camera so I grew up without any idea about how much I liked to take photos.

It all started when my brother in law forgot his camera in my home. He let me use it and my father was kind enough to buy some film since we were about to take a trip together. I was 17 when I clicked the shutter for the first time. The majority of my first experiments turned out to be complete disasters but I ended up liking photography very much.

Learning photography by myself was not easy even with the help from Internet forums and websites. It took me a couple of years to get a firm grasp of photographic concepts and how it relates with the subject I see in viewfinder. This journey of learning photography has been really wonderful but without a mentor I have stumbled quite a lot. This scholarship is a great opportunity for people like me living with a dream of being a travel photographer.

I am a science postgraduate from India and a devoted student of photography. My experiments with photography began a decade ago and it helped me appreciate and reinvent myself. In other words photography is a record of my reflections and ideologies about the world. My passion for photography has always been connected with the way I comprehend the world around me. I like shooting subjects that convey an emotion and carry a message that relates in some elements by everyone. Everything in this world has a story to tell and I try to sketch moments from these stories, preserve it in my perspective and imagery. Being a photographer means observing the world with a creative perception and greater depth to find new anecdotes. I aspire to become a travel photographer working from all corners of the world in search of better ways to portray human life and spread the sentiment of my vision, experience and appreciation through my images to the world. A photograph that connects with audience boosts my morale and inspires me to do more. I want to be in pursuit of such opportunities around the world and every setback in my way reminds me to try a bit harder, a bit longer and a bit better.

I am a science graduate but more a photographer at heart. I grew up in South India and began my journey with Photography a decade ago. To me, Photography is the reflection of my inner-self. A scholarship from World Nomads along with mentoring from Jason Edwards is a fulfillment of a long awaited dream and an opportunity to live the life of a travel photographer inside out. This scholarship would improve my technical skills and field experience vastly to become a travel photographer. I really want to win this scholarship and create photographs that speak for themselves showing gradients of our planet in its original glory and tell a story about us. There are thousands of untold stories of human life connected with one another rooted in this world. I want to sketch those stories and inspire people for a change. I would be satisfied to convey my visions through photographs and touch one’s heart to spark a change for a better tomorrow. I am an ardent student of photography waiting for a great opening and eager to learn and master the art of storytelling. I want to capture the essence of world in my frames and this scholarship would provide the stepping stone I deserve.
