Getting ready

As I sit in the air on the first leg of my adventure, I am finally relaxing about this trip for the first time in 4 months. I guess that's when you know you've done your due diligence? I'm hoping. I fully expect to come home unscathed. I expect packing took me 15 hours from start to finish. This included lots of research and shopping on amazon for the backpacking must haves. I have never thought through with such detail each item I would or would not bring. My 14 year old daughter is joining me on this adventure so she has been getting lessons in the process as I go too. I bought two packs, packing cubes, deet, hiking boots, facial wipes, wool socks, water bladders for 10L total water storage, chacos, a large duffel fit both packs (but stayed under 50 pounds!) and an iPad with a keyboard for blogging!

Things I brought that I owned: 4 dresses and 4 shorts/tanks, nicer flip flops, 2 swimsuits, a little makeup, a flat iron (because without a drier and big wire brush, I am going to be loking funny), a safety kit with ibuprofin, melatonin, immodium, bandaids, and ointment.
