Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I can hear a clock ticking in the back of my head and I feel like I'm wasting time. I began taking photos when I was 11-years-old. My dad enjoyed photographing the places we visited during our travels and would often hang prints throughout our house. A church in the Peruvian Andes, giraffes in Burkina Faso, Yellowstone National Park. Subconsciously, I believe I interpreted the aesthetic qualities of his work, which surely influenced my knack for design and photography.

You know when you have a natural talent for something, people point it out, you're proud of it, but you never intentionally pursue it as a fulltime profession? Well, that's me and photography, and that's why I feel like I'm wasting time. I'm 28 years old, I'm a professional in international development, currently working for a refugee rights organization, but all I really want to do it take beautiful and meaningful photographs. I wish to create, to document, to continue exploring the world, and escape the complacency that puts to shame my real skills and passion.

I will, without a moment's hesitation, drop everything to go to Greenland and learn under Jason Edwards. I can promise 100% commitment and effort, a critical approach to learning, and an untamed spirit.
