My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I discovered my passion for photography 4 years ago when choosing elective subjects for Grade 9 and 10. When the day came to submit our selections I had decided on Drama and Sports Studie. However, just as I was about to hand in the form I made a spontaneous decision to exchange Drama for Photography.
Our first assignment was to take pictures of objects around our house that reflected ourselves. I went home and photographed just about anything I could find. Let's just say my first attempt at photography was unfortunate but I never gave up.
So why do I love photography so much? I love that we have the ability to capture any emotion with the click of a button. I love that we are able to freeze a moment in time and preserve it. I love that we have the capacity to build a world of our own through photographic manipulation. Simply put, I love everything about photography and the joy that it brings me.
Along with photography I also enjoy dancing, reading and writing. I was born in Israel which has given me an interest in learning new languages. I am very academic and ambitious and am very curious of people and things around me and often contemplate the motives and behaviours of others.
