Are you looking for a solar heater to use for your in ground pool? Do you want to know how to build solar pool heaters for in ground pools? There are some advantages to building your own solar heater and you can use this advice for both in ground and above ground pools.

First, you are going to have to make sure you have a place to mount the heater that gets continual sunlight throughout the day. You need at least 6 hours of sunlight and the more you have the better. Do you know 12v 20ah battery? Make sure this spot is at least a 8 foot by 4 foot area or bigger. This could be your rooftop, a shed rooftop, or any other area that would work.

Second, you will need a pump that will pump the water slowly, some pvc piping, some black tubing, and a shut off valve. The idea behind this is that you are going to pump the water very slowly out of your pool and through about 50 feet to 200 feet of black tubing (about 1/2 inch in diameter to 3/4 inch) very slowly. As it goes through it will be heated by the sun and pumped back into your pool.

Last, you are going to put a shut off valve on the end that you use to return the water. Make sure to shut this off at night and when you do not have the heater running. You can put your new heater on a timer by plugging the pump into the timer so it will only run during the sunlight hours. This is one of the best solar pool heaters for in ground pools that will not cost you an arm and a leg.
