Megalithic Village that survived

August 2012

Komodo Dragon is not the only thing that survived through centuries in Flores, Indonesia, but there are cultures that still lives there. Bena Village. One of Megalithic Village that still exists in Indonesia.

The Elder Man says that there was one big man that built and brought the big stones to that Village a long time ago. Even almost 90 percents of Bena Communities are now Catholic, they still running the tradition ceremony. Too bad we missed the ceremonial that just held several days before we came.

There were holding some ceremonial that including some sacrifice of carabao and enjoying eating together that was cooked by the women.

Bena Village Community keep their village as the original, like their houses and their way of living. The Women are helping the family income by making 'Tenun Ikat' and selling 'rempah' like Vanilli and cengkeh.

Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am a student but willing to be a photographer. I learned Photography from my university as I took graphic design as my major but I actually like to captured 'anything' since high school. There is a thing more than mouth can tell on a photo and I feel as a good photo, its not only for composition, visual element, or good tone but the soul of the photo itself. The soul that could captivate people to keep looking at the picture and saying 'I want to go there! what happened to him/her?' and feeling connected to whatever on the picture.
I've been using a semi pro camera for almost 4 years and still on my way to find out my passion on photography. I love photography and I have guts to travel and facing nature, anarchy and ready for interaction with anything. I joined one of my university mountaineering club and I feel proud when I could bring the camera and captured some scenery that couldn't seen on city or any common holiday destination, and sometimes it could moving someone to come together and feel the scene by their own. And I am one of the type that could mingle and easily amazed with anything that unexpectedly could turn out to be something that I loved to took and shared.
