I know that I am a mother to four wonderful children and a wife to a Sergeant in the Air Force. The older my children get the more independent they become and I must say the less I feel they need me. I found that the pictures I took gave me a feeling of accomplishment and helped me find a place in this world. Photography has helped me deal with the loneliness of deployments and being so far away from family. When I first started taking pictures I was told by a close family member that I would never be good enough. At first I was crushed. Then I realized that I could not let someone else’s option define me or stop me from doing what I love. I picked up the camera and started snapping photographs of everything and anyone that would let me take their photo. I see the world different through the view finder of my camera. It is almost as if everything around me is in slow motion. I realized that so many people don’t take the time to see what is right in front of them. I hope my children see me in a new light, and know to never give up on their dreams.
