Tossing Grandpas Ashes

This past summer My family and I took a trip to Ocean Shores, WA. While there we took a day trip to Westport, WA. This is where we planed on taking a boat out to drop the ashes from. The ashes were in a dissolvable urn made of sea salt. When we got there we went to the Pier to find a boat. My cousin walked up to a boat full of men and asked them if they planed on going out anytime soon and for how long. They said they were going on three day fishing trip and my cousin said thanks and moved on. The next boat she found had two older gentlemen in it. She waled up to them and said "whatcha doing?" they said they were planing on going out fishing and were trying to see if the water was going to be rough or not. She then explained that we were trying to find a boat to take us out and let us toss our grandpa from. They accepted our offer and took us out. The treasure of this story is if your kind to people you never know who will surprise you.

Photos: My Scholarship entry - The World Through My Eyes

when I was in high school I was diagnosed with a disease called keratoconus. This eye disease made my corneas become pointy shaped. I wasn't able to get perfect vision with glasses and I couldn't wear contacts due to the shape of my corneas. I still did photography and produced some amazing work even though I couldn't see. I ended up having a double cornea transplant

At the young age of 23 I already have an AAS degree in photography from Spokane Falls Community College; I am a finalist in the Canon Long Live Imagination contest which led to my photography being seen by Ron Howard, Jamie Foxx, Eva Longoria, Biz Stone, Georgina Chapman, and James Murphy; and one of my photos has helped inspire the short film Chucked by Jared Nelson.

I should be chosen because I had to deal with vision issues and that still didn't stop me from pursuing a career in photography. I still don't have a job in photography, but I plan to move either to portland, OR and open a gallery/studio some day. For now I have had many other jobs, but I don't let that get in the way of my dream as a photographer

Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I started off by taking photography just to fill an art credit in high school. I soon relized that I wanted to make it my career one day, so I went to collage to get a degree in it. I finished school last June and now I have an AAS degree in photography from Spokane Falls Community Collage. while there I got to meet National Geographic Photographer Anthony Boccaccio. He taught a few classes there. I never had one from him, but
I did have my portfiolio reviewed by him at our portfiloio review. Ever since I finished school I have been trying to find a way to make it my full time job, but that just hasen't happened yet. My friend told me about Coolworks.com and since I want to travel and do photo stories on the people and place, I am working in Ak. When I go to these places I don't want to photograph the things that you normally would think about. No, I want to photograph the parts that are unkown. my inspration to travel and photograph the parts unkown comes from watching Anthony Bourdain's new show Parts Unkown. Yuo should choose me becuse my work is alredy good and with your help i can make it better. I'ts alredy good becuse I won the Canon long live imagination contest..
