Several years ago I decided to do a degree in photography. I relished in my new skills. I discovered an interest in technical photography with controlled lighting. I received my degree with distinction & like many students thought I would run off into the advertising world & make my fortune. How wrong I could have been. Boom & the Irish economy is a disaster zone. With strobe lights & white backdrops neatly packed away I set off into the world & rediscovered my true passion for real life & documentary photography. While I have photographed many cities & people throughout Europe, it is the unknown & unfamiliar that I truly want to photograph. Last year I travelled from Bogotá to Medellín. From the warm people to the colourful surroundings, it was the difference between my world back home & what I met in Colombia that made every person, place & situation jump out at my lens.
