My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

So, my name is Simon.

I was raised in my family pub in the Bedfordshire countryside, went to a local school, studied at University for four years and then started traveling and working.

But, this is not me, nor why I should be chosen to win this competition.

Until February 2012 I took pictures of places I had been, and things I had done so that I would not forget them. My main use of my friends DSLR's had been to try and spot pretty girls in the spectator stands opposite at tennis matches.

In February I invested in a DSLR, to the extent that until the next pay day I was getting my friends to buy me food. However I now had a tool to produce the images I could see in my head in an actual, tangible, picture. Since then I have been engrossed in how to use my camera to help me produce pictures of the world how I see it.

My friends say that I have an eye for a good photograph but the chance to learn from a professional would be a dream.

I love travelling and I love the challenge of trying to tell a thousand words with one photograph. To be chosen to go on this assignment would be an incredible opportunity, at a point in my life where I could really commit myself to a new lifestyle
