Photos: My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

For this scholarship entry I decided to choose a subject in which I really care for. I documented my dad’s trip to the Robina Hospital, in the Gold Coast, Australia. My dad has been fighting an ongoing battle with asthma for as long as I can remember. This body of work explores and illustrates the struggles that my dad faces everyday. I focused on some of his worse days. I used a black and white effect, natural light to contribute and relate to his ups and downs. This highlighted the composition, giving the photographs a dark, and deeper meaning whilst reflecting the atmosphere and surroundings. I tried to make my body of work evoke emotion to those who don’t have any idea who my dad is, and what he goes through. I believe this body of work effectively illustrates a story of a place both my family and I have visited.
