Photos: My Scholarship entry - Life in Sa Pa, Northern Vietnam

I see life in angles in lines of perspective, the slow turn of a head, the blink of an eye, glimpses of magic that pass others by. Photography for me has shaped my life profoundly, it's given me the opportunity to pursue a passion and to find out what really makes me tick. It's been one hell of a journey of self discovery that's taken me to places, seeing and experiencing things I'd never thought possible, and I'm forever grateful for how much it's enriched my life.

Yesterday (16/11/14) marked the day of the last shift I'm ever going to work at a part time job, from now on I'm going to do everything in my power to try and make something of myself through story telling in the mediums of words and photography. I'm nervous, I'm scared but more so then both of those emotions I feel a fire burning deep inside of me to embark on this journey, to create something impactful, to help change the world.

My Journey has just begun and I know there will be nothing stopping me from achieving everything I've ever dreamt of. Winning this scholarship would help put my foot in the door, and kickstart the life I've been obsessing about for the last 2 years.

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I believe I am an extremely diverse photographer. I am happy to take photos of absolutely anything and truly believe I do it well. whenever I have a camera in my hand I enter a euphoric state. A state where nothing else matters, all my worries wash away. I am an exceedingly driven individual with an obsession for photography, an obsession that makes me lose sleep at night. It's the last thing I think of before I sleep and the first thing I think of in the morning, and If I haven't taken photos in a few days I withdraw, I'm drastically addicted to this hobby and need to make it something more.

I have come to a time now where I know what I want to do with the rest of my life and I'm going to do everything I can to try and make it. I have come to the realisation that you can only be great at something if you have a burning desire and drive to be the best. Photography is what I'm driven to do and I know what I'm destined to achieve, I can feel it deep inside of me.

This opportunity would be my foot in the door to realising everything I've ever dreamed of.
