Photos: My Scholarship entry - Can we camp under your tree?

I am a doctorate student studying Earth Sciences - a field I chose in order to explore the world and collect a story which cannot be told through words (rocks are not great conversation pals). I investigate the evolution of our continents - my photographs being for the most part on the millimeter scale and my data points spanning microns. But supplementary to this I yearn for a greater context and on my first field expedition I knew that I had to document what I saw and how I felt. I take so much pride in my photographs, and as my memory is not my strong point, these points in time preserve a particular feeling - not just of the photographer but of the general mood of the scene. I relish the technology that allows me to do this.

I itch for adventure when I am sitting in the lab. I want to link science with art. I want to investigate the interaction between indigenous communities and the outsiders there to help them. I want to see first hand the extraordinary diversity of the earth and then show it to the world.

My weakness is approaching people. I would benefit immensely under Jason's tutelage and gain the confidence to take with me on my future adventures.
