Sometimes the journey you undertake isn't on any road or river.

My travels have been internal. A new way of seeing. A new way of understanding. An appreciation of simplicity. I am a first nations woman who feels deeply rooted and connected to the earth around me. I don't feel it's mystical, just a fact that each day the sun rises and the earth is below my feet.

These photos are from my summer in the Canadian Capital City of Ottawa. I was there on a summer job placement and I took my camera everywhere. I wanted to show the city from my eyes. I was a tourist. I was alone in a new city. And every experience was new to me.I hope my collection shows this frame of mind in each shot. Loneliness, Courage, and A step outside of the regular every day while being submerged in life.

Each day there are mysteries that do unfold and if i'm lucky, i witness a moment of magic.

I feel deeply connected to the world around me. I take photos that show my deep respect for the people, and the earth around me. Photography has helped me to get a fresh start in life, to leave negatives behind me.
