CULTURAL PRESERVATION: THE ROLE OF T’BOLI WOMEN

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Philippines | Tuesday, January 1, 2013 | flickr photos

I love adventure and outdoor activities. During my free time I am usually found traveling, biking or hiking in the different remote areas of my country. . This has increased my fascination in documenting the cultures and traditions of the indigenous communities that I have visited through the lens of my camera.

I am an occupational therapist by profession and used to work in an INGO which caters person with disabilities in disaster affected areas. Working in this kind of setting has exposed me to the different social issues such as displacement, disability and other human rights issues. It has helped me improved my sensitivity and skills in photographing different kinds of people in all walks of life.

I believe that my desire to explore and learn new things, my patience, my ability to respect the dignity others and my passion for photography will bring me to places that I have never imagined. In the future I see myself as a photojournalist in a humanitarian setting, documenting the struggles and successes of the people in different parts of the world. I believe this scholarship will give me the opportunity to make this dream a reality.

Thank you!
