4 days in iceland

Welcome to Iceland!! The land where the sun never sets, or rises depending on when your here. The land of fresh fish, booze and hotdogs! I love this fucking place. Now they say that Greenland is ice and Iceland is green, but if you ask me, and you should dick, Iceland looks like Mars. Seriously, The majority of the country is complete wasteland (63%), while another 11% of the country is glacier. Got that? that's 3/4 of the ENTIRE fucking country that is completely uninhabitable. What you don't know, is that this uninhabitable, inhospitable, rugged country is one of the most beautiful places i have ever seen, and i can almost guarantee you if you follow this itinerary you are going to have a trip to remember.
    So if you are reading this i assume you are atleast doing a little bit of research, so lets get down to business. Iceland is expensive. Even with there Economy in the shitter you can still expect to spend about 40,000 to 60,000 krona while your here (that's about 300 to 500 bucks in 4 days). While that might not seem like a lot to you blue bloods out there, us working class folk would like you to kindly go fuck yourself. Anyway, I suggest using a credit card with no international fees for as much as you can, such as capital one venture card. of course you should have a bit of cash on you in case you get held up at knifepoint by bjork, so the best place to get cash is at the airport. Literally right before you walk out the door, there is a currency exchange that DOES NOT charge any commission. Do this shit. More importantly, booze. Alcohol is incredibly expensive in Iceland. As an example the cheapest beverage i got was 950 krona, but you should expect to spend between 1200 to 1600 krona(9 to 13 bucks) on a beer. What I suggest, is that you purchase any liquor you may want to drink while in town at the duty free shops at the airport. Believe me You will be getting a deep discount. As an example, a fifth of Brennivin at a liquor store in Reykjavik cost 3,500 krona, at the airport a full 1.75 liter bottle cost 1,600 krona. If for some reason you don't believe me and decide to purchase alcohol in town, the only liquor store i could find was on Grettisgata directly across the street from the laundry room cafe.     After drinking, the second most important thing in Iceland is driving. When you come to Iceland you need a car, unless you plan on just staying in center city Reykjavik the whole time like a drunken, 21 year old closeted homosexual frat boy. Make sure you secure your rental car before you arrive in keflavik. I decided to go with Sixt Rent a Car because, well, its cheap as fuck. What they neglect to tell you, or maybe they do tell you, but who actually reads all that shitty fine print, is that once you come to pick up your car, Sixt will put a 1500 (for 2wd car, 2000 euro for 4x4) euro hold on your credit card. Ridiculous. Best up your limit homie.
    Apon leaving the airport head directly to the Blue Lagoon. it is the absolute perfect thing to do after getting off the plain. Plus its on the way to Reykjavik! You cant loose, finally! Here's the Driving Directions. From june till the end of august they open the spa at 9am. Any other time (september to may dumbass) they open at 10. So since many of you probably took the red eye and arrived at 6am, you have a few hours to kill. You can try to find something to eat, but most things in iceland dont really open up till around 10 as well. There is however one place that is open. The Northern Light Inn has breakfast.Now i'm not going to say that this breakfast is good, but it is cheap (1500 krona) and it is literally next to the blue lagoon. Fill up on toast and some kind of shitty fish and head back to the blue lagoon to take pictures before they open. If you walk towards the entrance, on the left side before entering is a pretty sweet path that takes you along some of the pools.

It should cost you about 40 euro to get in to the spa. The Blue Lagoon people aren't stupid, they aren't dicking around with Krona. Here's a tip, bring your own towel, it will save you 5 euro, spanky. Relax, enjoy, this place is just as good as you thought it would be. Fan-fucking-tastic. They also have a bar so you can get drunk and relax, 950 krona a beer.

Spend as much time as you want at the blue lagoon then drive on over to center city Reykjavik and check on into your hotel. I stayed at Fosshotel Lind and it had a great free breakfast, nice rooms and free parking, see my review in this blog. After your all settled in, take a walk on over and check out Hallgrímskirkja, a big fuckin church, and a spot that can help you orient yourself while in center city.
