Photos: My Scholarship entry - Virunga - Africa’s oldest national park

My first introduction to photography was through a friend that showed me the magic you could create through a lens. As I embarked on my travels around the world, exploring remote places and looking for adventure, the camera became a natural companion.

My travels made me want to pursue a path where I could contribute to making a positive change to the lives of others. Four years ago I took up an international career with the United Nations, which allows me to travel to unique and inaccessible places. My passion for photography continues to endure, capturing moments in life – micro moments, so often unexpected but yet rich in reciprocity.

I believe photography can have a positive influence at not only the individual level, but also national and global. Influence through visual narratives of a cause, a place or a situation can be significant.
