The Big Island

USA | Saturday, 25 April 2015 | Views [112] | Scholarship Entry

I love to reconnect with those I meet travelling whenever possible. When a friend moved from Costa Rica to Hawaii I jumped at the chance to experience the special little island. Never one to overly research anything, I simply made my way towards the Big Island from Palm Springs. It was only as I waited for my connecting flight from Honolulu did I look up the destination I was heading towards. The small town of Pahoa is on the path of the most recent lava flow and won't be around for much longer. I watched the town be teased by Kilauea's flow. Understood the love and respect that is given to the islands volcanoes and partook in the appreciation of month nature on an incredible micro climate island. Gaining invaluable experience in raw cuisine, health tonics, ecstatic dance and permaculture and becoming part of a beautiful creative community sharing love for the planet.
