5 things to do in Chanthaburi

1. Walk! With shade from tin roofs and warm breeze of wind, you can walk along the street without getting exhausted. Once you arrived at Chanthaburi market, find yourself a parking space and walk your feet in, talk to the people and collect their smiles, like mine, I have got one big smile from this old lady after I have helped her push her kart across the bridge.

2. Drink! Every sunny afternoon, men will gather at their good old bar playing some games together. Well, it is a coffee bar after all and the youngest dude here is over the age of 40. Everyone is busy playing chess, checkers or backgammon. It surprised me when a bunch of people can spend time together without saying a word but can learn from each other more and more.

3. Eat! (or be eaten) Look at the shoal of fish; they are Soro Brook Carps at Namtokphliu National Park. Sorry for introduction, nothing was eaten by these carps except the yard long beans. They are nonchalant by nature; you can swim among them and they won’t swim to or swim away from you. But if you want their attraction, give them the yard long beans and they will even jump out of water for you.

4. Rest! Have you ever dream of staying a night in bungalow over a river, watching sunrise and sunset, counting stars and having three seafood buffet meals? It’s not a dream anymore, come and get it at Chanthaburi!

5. Exercise! Get up early, hold your camera tight, grab a pedal and get in to a boat. Row it with your friend to the fisherman village, see crab farms and take pictures, make yourself hungry and ready for buffet lunch.

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

In April of 2010, I have been to Frankfurt am Main in Germany with other 15 students who got a scholarship for Spring School at Goethe University. This is my first and only time to get abroad so I and my family were very excited. My mother brought me a canon 500D as a gift for achieving this scholarship and to keep every memory of me and my friends, this is when I decided to take every pictures of everything just for her to feel like she has come with me. I’m not a good student, I’m a captain of softball team for 2 years and I spend most of my time for it, this scholarship is one of miracles that make my family proud of me as a law student.
Besides sports I love photography; it can bring me to a conversation with any stranger, cure tiredness from anyone and end our conversation with smiles. I know that these 5 photos didn’t show much about places, I cannot take any landscape photos better than other photographers. So I try my best to capture the moments of people around me because I believe that they can bring life to my photos. For that reason I need to learn more about photography and grab every possibility that I can. This travel Photography Scholarship is the best opportunity I have found and I will do my best to be a part of it.
