I am Priyanka Desai. I am a lifestyle and travel writer by profession by I try to coax my editors to slip in some of my photography experiments, along with my articles. Photography for me is a vivid getaway from the daily rut. I would like to use the redundant cliche out here, "A picture speaks a thousand words". It really does for me. Looking at a picture, I can feel the texture, the air, the light, the smell, the weather, the season and even the smell of a place. I am sure most of us can get a whiff of a zesty, citrus-y smell when we see an image of an orange orchard or a waft of delicious tea cakes while seeing a picture of a bistro. Basically, photography for me is being in touch with all my senses and bringing out that experience in my writing. I believe that this scholarship is tailor-made for me as I love photography but have no technical knowledge or training for it, but I know that I have the visual strength and creativity for it.
