Roma - Hello Pope

The next day we headed to Pisa. For those who have been before, will know what its all about. Basically you go there, take photos of you pushing on the leaning tower and then leave! thats exactly what we did! haha not a whole lot to report here, but we got some cool pictures! and then back on the train to Rome.

By the time we arrived in Rome it was the evening and we checked into our hostel. In our Dorm we met some Canadians who were playing drinking games. We had barely even put our bags down, and we joined in. We learnt a new drinking game called to the bar and back. Basically if you want to get completly wasted in a very short period of time, then this is the game for you! it was right up our alley and Nik was first up.

Therfe is basically 7 cards layed out, and you have to get to the bar and back (start to end) by guessing if the next card will be higher or lower than the card on the deck. Sounds easy, but everytime you get it wrong you have to drink and go back to the start! On average going to the bar and back can mean you will drink about 2 drinks in the space of 5 mins. VERY Frustrating! but great fun!

The next day, we woke up and decided to explore Rome via the hop on hop off bus. Hol was so excited to see the Coluseum for the 1st time... Nik was excited cause she wants to be a gladiator. we jumped off at the Coloseum and decided to jump on a tour of both the Colesum and the Palistine. The ruins were absolutly amazing and blew us both away!

Nik had been to rome before and was the tour guide for Holly, and she wanted to point out the spanish steps and the Vatican city. after the 3rd time she had pointed to some steps and said... look there is the spanish steps, Hol thought she was BSN. She was especially BSN when we got off the bus at a sqaure that absolutly blew Hol away.... as she asked is this Vatcan city? Nik said.... No i dont think so. Hol repeated are you sure?? because this looks exactly like it, and it is amazing! hahah after a while we realised it was Vatican City and Nik felt like a bit of a window Licker!

after a day of sight seeing, we walked home past a huge Chinese resturant and at once we both looked at each and knew we were thinking the same thing. we went straight in and ordered a massive chinese feast! we were getting so sick of italian food!

Firenze

After about 24 hours of travelling on a boat, bus and train! we finally got to florence, checked into our hostel - plus Florence and headed straight to the Bar without delay!

2 x beers and a few rounds of pool. as the night rolled on we started meeting some other fellow travellers and before you know it we had the party started on the dance floor. The Russian dance move and the Swinging Monkey made frequent appearances throughout the night. The night got even better when Nik found 200 Euros on the floor, and of course without hestition put 50 on each of her and hols Bar Cards and saved the rest for a fancy dinner the next night. (come on you.... dont judge... we know you would of done the same!) as usual we were the last to leave the bar at about 4:30am plus we were booked onto a food and wine tour first thing in the morning so got a few hours of shut eye. The alarm went off a few hours later, and still fairly drunk we headed off for our tour. Nikky did warn the tour guide we were still drunk, but he still gave us free glasses of red wine, which was just a top up! The food we tasted was amazing especaially the parmasen cheese and Home made balsamic Vingear!.... the samples were so yummy that nik bought a whole vacumm packed bag of artichoke hearts, pickled garlic and wild strawberries. what a combination!!

The alcohol war off soon after the tour, and we sat on the roof top of our hostel enjoying the sun for the rest of the afternoon... snaking on our garlic and artihokes! . We decided to spoil ourselves that night with our findnings... and headed off to the highly recommeded returant 4 Leoni. On the walk there, we did a spot of shopping where nik purchased some shoes, t shirt and leather jacket... and Hol and Nik both bought leather belts. we walked through the square with all the statues, and sat down and watched some hilarious street performer! we got caught up and ended up watching for about 40 mins, before we headed to the resturant.

At the resturant we were given 2 glasses of free champaige.... and you know us, of course we bought a whole bottle. we orded Bruchetta for an entre, by far the best we have EVER tasted!

Nik ordered the pear Raviolli, which was the best meal ever! and hol ordered the steak, as she has been diprived of steak for 18 months.... (those who have lived in London will know what i am talking about). Even nik commented on how amazing it looked, and she is a Vegetarian!

This resturant was absolutly amazing... one of the best we have ever eaten at. Highly recommened for anyone going to florence!

The next day we decided to go on a day trip to a town just outside of Florence, San Giamnono a cute little medieval town.

we went for a hike and saw panoramic views of Vine yards and hills.... but lets face facts were were really there to try the worlds best Gilato which has won 2 years in a row! Nik had a passionfruit and white Cholocte. Porky pig had Vino (had to try wine flavoured ice cream of course!), saffron cream, and the speciality. It was definatly up there with the best Gilati ever!

when we got back to the hostel, we thought we would try out the sauna. whille we were sweating, Hol had her BSN for the day, and turned to Nik and said.... hey babe, can i get sunburnt in here! Nik almost lost it in Histarics! After the sauna, we again went back to the bar and had another massive night. we were told the night before had been dead, and the bar staff were excited to see us back!

Hol had a dacne of with the DJ, while Nik took over the DJ Box... with some of the house favourtites such as the Gambler and Jon Bon Jovi.

The night ended with us having a gladiator resslle in the elevator, cause Nik was telling Hol how much stonger she was! as usual, Hol came out worse off! i'll get her one day!

The next day we explored Florence. we wernt to the Accamdemia to see the famous David which we thought had a strikining resemblence to our housemate and good friend Gubby! It was pretty amazing to see and worth the line up. Nik managed to get a few sneaky photos, espceically one of Davids Butt!

after that we did some more shopping, and started on the walk up to the Piazza Michelangelo for amazing, spectacular panoramic views back over the whole of Florence, It was beautiful.

We headed back down and because we were now addicted to the amazing food, we decided to treat ourselves to another nice dinner at a recommeneded resturant.

This time, we had the most amazing entre, which was Buffello Monzerlla Balls with Honey, marmale and Grapfruit. It was like something we had never tasted in our lives! soooooo amazing! the rest of the meal was great! and another highly recommeneded! especially with the free sample patter and unlimited champers!

No bar that night, we hit the sack early as the next morining we had booked to go on a Vespa tour through Tuscany!

we woke up pretty excited.... and after a short drive into the country we stopped at some stables to drop off some horse riders. there was one horse, which was absolutly stunning... Nik was patting it quite a lot and Hol repeated warned her that the horse looked a bit angry! she was like Nahhhhh its fine! when she walked away and turned her back, the horse leant out and Bit her on the arm! Lucikly she was wearing her brand new leather jacket and walkked away with only a bruise. what a bitch of a horse!

next we went to pick up our vespas, and had a short lesson. Both picked it up quick as and were ready to hit the road.

we cruised around....for a couple of hours.... with amazing views of the Tuscan hills and vine yards as we drove. we stopped for lunch at a castle on top of the hill, where we were given about 5 glasses of free wine! we seemed to have a but more confience on the bikes after a few vinos... and we contined our tour! was amazing.

On the way back to the Hostel in the bus after we had retired our vespas for the day, we cranked the music and had kareoke and dance lessons one the road trip back! the next day was time to leave, so we once again packed up our packs, and were ready to move onto rome!

B.S.H: So we are sitting in the sauna and hol turns to nik and says ''Hey babe will i get sunburnt in here'' nik could not believe this... of course Hol... the uv rays are pretty strong in here today.. u better put your sunscreen on!

Croatia for easter long weekend

Lesson to all - dont take an overnight bus unless you either A) you have no choice or B) you are stocked up with Vino and Sleeping pills! Unfortunatly.... this time for us, there was no option B! so after a bumpy 12 hour ride with little sleep, we arrived at the bus station in Split at 4am! Lets just say, we are glad that first impressions of croatia were wrong! we sat at the bus stop for about 4 hours waiting until we could check into our hostel. The bus stop.. or aka the Bums Hangout! was not a great place to be at that hour of the monrning. so we had to stay awake the whole time, or nap in shifts as it was a bit too sketchy to fall asleep without at least one eye open! dawn finally broke, just as one of the booze drenched bums passed out on Hols shoulder! and we couldnt get out of there quicker! there were other normal people doing the same thing as us, so dont panic! they were harmless... but stunk like booze and Cigerettes!

When we finally found our hostel, we checked, and both fell straight into bed! we woke up about 6 hours later at 2pm feeling much more refreshed!

we had a quick look around the place before it was time to get ready to go and meet Ali and Amanda ( our canadian girls) for Amanda's 25th birthday! they met us, and we went to their hostel for wine and met up with a few more of their friends.

we hit a pub at about midnight, by this time amanda was well boozed! we wouldnt expect any less for her birthday! at the pub we had a few more drinks, and the bar tender gave us all a shot for her birthday!

we are still unsure what the hell was in it, but it was the most potent thing i have ever tasted! Nik was straight to the toilet and had to try real hard not to throw it back up!

During the night, the girls had mentioned that they were heading out to an island called Havar the next day! so we decided to join them. so 2am we went home, and got some well earned sleep!

The next day, with slight hangovers (Holly of course, not Nikky) we met the girls at the Ferry and headed over to the island. It was a beautiful hot day... and we spend the day walking around the island, sunbaking and eating some amazing Croatian Risotto! It was a great day, and we heading back to the mainland at about 5pm.

That night the Canadian girls happened to be checking into our same Hostel... and you wouldnt beleive it, but they were in the same room!

we had a quiet night tonight and watched the little rascals.

The next day we all checked out, Ali and Amanda were heading off to explore some other parts of Europe and Hol and Nik decided to go to Dubrovnik for the easter long weekend.

we jumped on the bus and 4 hours later we were in Dubrovnik. we met up with the guys whos house we were staying at. Most of the Croatians have houses that they rent out rooms in! when you jump off the bus, they are all staniding there with signs trying to get you to book with them! we were glad we had already organised ours! when we drove to the house we were soooos stocked. we had the most amazing room, with a balacony and amazing views! Nik reckons its the best accomodation she has ever stayed in! not long had we dumped our bags, but the man that owns the house was back to offer to drive us up to the highest point in Dubrovnik where you can see views over the whole of the city! this was right at the top where the fort is.

The views from the top were absolutly stunning! this city was truly amazing! and he also gave us a lot of information about the history of the place, especially the most recent war in 1991 which saw most of the old city wrecked! You can still see bullet wholes and damge on a lot of the buildings!

we were soooo grateful that we got to see this view!

On the way back down, he told us that he thought all of the shops (upermarkets etc) were closed over the next few days because of Easter! he dropped us of at a pizza shop that was still open. we ordered large pizzas for dinner, and in a bit of a panic about the shops being closed, we stocked up on Booze! we bought so much that they through a couple of beers in on the house, and i am pretty sure they were all talking about us in Croatian and laughing! probably thought we were Alchos!

so we carted all of our booze and Pizza back to the room, and sat on our balcony with a beer and our pizza and watched the sunset! it was sooooooo beautiful!

Next day was Easter Sunday! decided to have a very lazy day, and take advntage of the great balcony, views and sun!

we sunbalked and drank a few beers in the sun for most of the day! Great Easter Sunday!

The family who we were staying with brought us a little basket of eggs for easter! Nik was soooo excited as we hadnt had chocolate in a while! she eagarly crracked it open to find a boiled egg! j hahaha you should of see her face! it was like learning that santa wasnt real for the 1st time!

oh well, we layed in the sun and ate our boiled eggs! then Nik got a message from a friend back in London saying that Lucy (her friend from her work back in London was in Dubrovnik). we text her straight away and organsised to meet up for a drink in the old down!

After about 2 beers and 4 cocktails later.... and of course a good catch up lucy and Ivan, we heading off for Dinner. Nik and Hol dined at a resturant near the water... and had a very interesting seafood risotto! we wernt all that impressed as we had to peel everything! too much work!

Monday came and after an amesome relaxing few days in Croatia we headed on an overnight ferry back to Ancona in Italy! we played cards and tried to get some sleep.

Once we arrived in Ancona, we had another few hours of travel ahead of us on a train to get to our next destination Florence!

Venice - City of Water!

After aborting the Terra we headed for Venice, the city of water. We deceided to try something different and stay at camping grounds why not hey? thanks to Lauren who suggested we stay here on the mainland because it was so much fun! This camp site was camping Fusina, and was amazing! we stayed in cute little cabins the campgrounds were suberb. As soon as we walked through the grounds we knew it was going to be good. 2 Bars... one brand new one which was opening THAT night.... a Resturant, beer garden and Pizzeria! It was right on the water. After walking around a bit we decided to go check out the bar. The first thing Nik saw was strongbow on tap and you can imagine her reation! Now picture this reation........ when Nik went to order 2 pints, Jono (the bar tender...soon to become our new friend, trust us to make best mates with the bar tender!).....told her that they didnt stock strong bow! he felt so bad, that we got drinks for cheap/free all night! Nik got him to put Grenadine in her beer. 1/2 a snakebite! that will do the job! . After playing car for a while, we decided to head to the bar next door that was opening that night, so 2 for 1 drinks! About 30 minutes later we were getting free shots left right and centre from the staff and before you know it an entire bus of contiki tour rocked up! the bar tenders were lining up free shots, and lighting them on fire....... and it was free drinks for anyone that was dancing on the table!! of course Hols and Nik were 1st ones up there! ..... this is where The Nikky and Holly show started, we ended up chorographing a new dance with all our mates siginature dance moves . so we had Hols dance move.... (not the Russian, as Niks is not really up to speed with that just yet!, but the other one)..... swinging monkey.... we fed the horses for the boys, Caths hair flick, hol and wazza's cow rope move..... a bit of kick ball change thown in for style! it was fab!!

The next day we headed to venice. Jono who lived there all last summer gave us a 'non tourist' tour. So the first stop was a cute little pub for a hair of the dog..... we had a 'spritzer' and some amazing little canpoes..... we sat in the sun on the grass and enjoyed the lovely sunshine! we were also joined by Donna, she had arrived the same day as us, another aussie who was going to be working the summer at camping Fusina. To make up for not having cider at the camping bar, Johnno walked around trying to remember where a pub was that served Cider! it was a cute little irish pub, and so of course we went in and had a strongbow! right Nik was the happiest little vegemite alive, and ready to be a tourist! We went on a amazing condolda ride for 30 minutes which was beautiful and so much fun, then we had some yummy pizza and visited St Marks bascilla and had the worlds best gelati. Thank god Holly can read maps cause Nikky as been to venice before and still get lost! Every bridge we walked acoss... we were like ' oh yeah thats the way home' 'i swear we have gone past that bridge before'.... but for those of you who have been to venice before will know exactly what we are talking about! YOUR LOST! after 30 minutes we found our selves back at the ferry port! job to Porky pants on getting us back! Back at the camping site, again, the party was a big one! More dancing and more free shots.... Nik ended up swapping clothes... as she does! even some of the grannies were were staying in the camper vans were right there with us on the table tops! it was soooo much fun!

The next day Hol begged Nikky to stay longer as we had the best time ever in venice and didnt want to leave! Hol had even lined us up jobs for the season! Although the idea sounded great, and we definatly thought we could stay, we had too many other exciting things to do! maybe next year? we were off to Croatia on an overnight bus! FUN!

Cinque Terra - Cutest little place ever!

Next stop on the tour is the Cinque Terra. we jumped on a train in the morning, luckly it was raining that day, so were glad to catch up on some sleep on the train ride. We checked into our hostel, another 12 bed dorm.....was VERY cramped in! beds in the Kitchen.... luckly there was only 3 of us that night!

We played cards with our new romie Ryan, who taught us a great new card game! He had this deck of cards that he got off ebay, they were plastic.. so water proof.... in other words... Nikky Proof!! the best cards we had ever seen! no amount o wine spillage in the world oul ruin these cards, and we all know that Nik usually only manages to get about 1/2 of the wine in the glass and the rest on the table. Nik raved on about them all night... 'these cards are sooo awesome' 'where did you get them from'... 'Hol i love these cards' ' i want a set'. honestly... did not shut up about the cards all night. ...Ryan commenterd, 'if i knew you girls were going to be so much fun i would of bought more drinks'......Never underestimate porks and bucks to show you a good night, even if we are in a quiet, peaceful place!

After 2 and 1/2 hours of playing cards, Nik still had not won a game... (and we all know how competative she is!!), defeated we called it a night.... when we woke up in the morning, the guy had checked out and the Cards were laying on the bed! Nik was SOO stoked! hope we didnt scare him!

First day in Cinque Terra we hiked the 5 villages along the coast. It was a beautiful day and the scenary was absolutlly surreal! some of the climbs were challenging, but so worth it, as the views were spectacular! one of the most beautiful places we have seen so far, and the villages were so cute.

In the night back at the hostel we were relaxing with a well earned Beer after hiking about 7 hours that day......when we heard someone calling holly's name through the door.... we opened it to find that 2 of our canadian friends that we had met in our hostel in Nice, Ali and Amanda. They were staying at the hostel above us! they said they could hear our Aussie accents, and knew it was us! So straight away we were into the Vino and cards again!

The next day, we headed to the beach to have bit of a chillax! layed in the sun until the rocks that were poking into our arses were hurting too much, and we thought time to do another Hike. We hiked along the cliff from the last village Monteroso, this was an even tougher climb..... but we made it! and at the top an absolutly beautiful panoramic view back of the whole of the Cinque Terra! we made our way back down where we enjoyed our first Gelato... YUMMY!

That night, we got back to the hostel and about another 7 people had checked in! VERY cramped in, but it was worth it, as we ended up having a CRAZY night!

Started out playing drinking games and listening to music around the table..... LOTS of cheap wine. we had bought the jumpo sized 1 and 1/2 litres for 3 euros....bargain! lets just say there was not much of that left by the end of the night! Next minute we know, we are dancing on the chairs and tables in the hostel... Nik thought it might be a fun idea for everyone to wear our bars on the outside of our shirts! and hair in a high pony tail singing to all the oldies and doing the swiming monkey! of course we couldnt leave out the boys, so Nik kindly offered to lend out 3 of her bras to the boys! who seemed to enjoy wearing them a little bit too much! Beleive it or not, we actually met someone more clumpsy than Nik. Marissa, one of the girls was a tad drunk, and went to lean on the cupboard. Next minute she had pulled the whole cupboard off the wall smashing plates, glasses, salt.... all over the floor!

After several hours of being crazy, laughing, singing and drinking and of course a couple of table top russian dance moves! we were up on the top bunks running from one bed to the other running an absolutle muck!

We thought the only logical and sensible thing to do next would be to go for a swim in the ocean! so off we go, with our swimmers on down to the rocks, and in we go! the water was absolutly bloody FREEZING! it was breathtakingly freezing! we could not get out quick enough.

Next morning Porky woke up with a few little cuts on her feet and a bit of a sore head.... Little miss 'i dont get a hangovers' was fine!

Was a slow start to the morning, but this place was so worth getting up for!

Cinque Terra was honestly one of the cutest places we have ever seen! the Hikes are amazing! and well worth the effort, as the views were absolutly breathtaking!

We decided to make some plans about where we were off to next. The canadian girls are heading to venice then to Croatia for Amanda's birthday.... so we thought... what the hell...whats a party without porks and Buckwheat... lets go to Croatia too!! why not! so next stop Venice! then Croatia!

The Trashbags finally abort the UK - and this time its for good!

Well the day has finally arrived!!!The trashbags are offically leaving the UK! well......... there was a slight eliment of doubt there for a moment.... but luckly.... Blue powerade once again saved the day! we had of course, had a MASSIVE night the night before.... some might say our 6th farewell..... some have just simply stopped counting! but sore heads and all, we left barrowgate and headed towards the train Bound for Gatwick Airport!

At the airport, we must of looked slightly 'dodgy' we both had our bags stripped out on the table. Nik had only just got back from Egypt and didnt have the chance to do her washing.... unfortunatly she was carrying all her dirty undies in her bag. not the proudest moment when the UK customs official was swifting through Niks dirty knickers! On the other table, Hol was being questioned about her excess Liquid! apparently 2 x tubes of Vegemite was over my liquid limit! after begging with him not to take it, and trying to tell him how precious it was, he told me to buy some Marmite, and left before i could think of something to say back... get some marmite??? clearly he is not an aussie..... F%$*Ker!

We had not seen each other for about 1 month.... so LOTS to catch up on!..... despite the pain Hol was still feeling.... Nik chatted away excitedly talking about Perth and Eqypt....................Hol took 2 x Nurophen and tried to be as cherpy as possible! hehe

Damn Nikky for not getting hangovers!

Arrived at our hostel, which was a 12 bed mixed - Honestly the best hotel ever!!! their is a section called the Chapel....which at first we were a little concerned about.... turns out it was one of those loosly used terms like 'the church'.. on Sunday...... so more or less a place to get completely wasted! and anyone want to guess what happened that night??? YEP..... the trashies hit the bar and took advantage of the1 Euro Beers and 4 Euro bottles of Vino! Not sure they considered that porks and Buck would be visiting the hostel for 3 nights when they decided on that price. 2 bottles later, we had 1/2 the hostel around our table playing thumpers! By that stage, we had made 20 new mates......and remembering names was absolutly inconceavable....... so we decided to nikname everyone....... Regan was REGGIE!! Brendon was B, Lynmarie was Linny, Veronica was V.... Lisa was Lee..... and i think you guys get the picture! bascially.... if we couldnt think of a cool name, we just called them by their first letter.... and then of course... there was Porky and Buckwheat..... (amongst others). We even managed to drag of of the 48 year old room mates who 'doenst drink' down for a drink!

We were having such a great time, playing drinking games, Nik running behind the bar.... (as she does) and also teaching B to do the swinging monkey!

after things started to get a bit roudy.... B challenged Nik to drink a 3rd bottle of wine....... Holly begged B NOT to EVER challenge her to do anything.... as there is no doubt in hell she would do it! people didnt beleive it..... we told them so! off she trotts to the bar to purchased the 3rd bottle...... and down it goes! 3am hit, and we thought if we were going to see Nice aside from the hostel bar.... we might like to hit the sack! In London, our nights usually end in some sort of Injury......WHY would Nice be any different??? so as we headed up the stairs and Nik decided to jump on Porky's back.... and both go tumbling down! Niks wacks her head on the stairs..... and next minute their is a lump on her Head the size of her Tits! Hol ran down the stairs to get some ice from the bar to put on her head, and upon my return, find Nik vomiting in the sink!... she never could handly the Vino!!! especially not 3 bottles...... next time though, hopefully nik will remember to pull the plug in the sink first so hol, being the very best mate that she is, doesnt have to sift through her vomit to pull the plug!!! but hey? what are friends for?

we layed in the hall of the hostel laughing for about 1/2 an hour, while Porky was resting Ice on Bucks Big Head. after the 5th person came out of their rooms and told us to shhhhhhhh can you guys please be quite... and after we thought we had responded suffiently enough with SHUUTTTT ITTT yourself F%$%ER!S!!!! we decided to call it a night. Bucks would not shut her mouth.... when we went into the room, she opened the window and was trying to entice the Hostel Cat into our room! Porky and Buck Passed out, both in the bottem bunk, Porks with one hand holding ice on the head, and one hand gaging her!

Its barely any surprise that we woke up the next morning, still wearing the clothes from the night before, spooning each other in the bottom bunk, that we found that 1/2 the dorm had already checked out!

and we after carrying our back packs for 1 day we decedied to culled them , nik took 18 pairs of undies out , as we decieded she wouldn'[t need 28 pais on tour, also throw our a second electric tooth brush and charger, nik found a cat on her bed.

The next day, was TOUGH! but a berocca later and we were determined to see Nice as planned. 1st stop was at the chemist, cause Hol had a bit of an Itch...from being on a repeated course of anti biotics! it was a Hilarious and at the same time embarassing experience trying to describe to the French lady behind the couter..... the 'problem' as she decided to attempt to communicate in manner of 'sherades'... with the actions basically considing of her stratching her Vage! and saying,,, internal?? external???

Hol was sooooo emabaraseed..... we got the cream, and walked out laughing in stiches! I am sure that her made day!

After the embassment wore off we headed to Ezy Village and then onto Monte Carlo..... the highlight here was us Posing infront of several statues in the parks. (see facebook pictures of Nice for further details)... had a fun day!

On the way home on the train... we were talking and laughing, and porks told Buck something that made her laugh so hard that she literally spat her mouth full of water on a posh elderly french lady! time to abort the train! in fact.... almost time to to abort the country.

Next stop = Cinqua Terra.

BSN of the day = Nikky turns to Holly and says thats going to cost a shit load to call that toll free number? hello toll free?

BSH= Holly turns to Nikky and says it would suck if that bird fell off that water fall, we all know birds have wings right?
