Photos: My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I was recently in North Africa (Siwa, Egypt) and the Middle East (Qatar) and I shot this series of photos, which I have called "Desert Colors". The photos show the beauty of the desert through the quality of light, especially during golden hour, and the beauty of the region's architecture which so vividly embodies the people of the desert.

People usually think the desert is devoid of life, and is somewhat bland. One couldn't be more wrong, the light in Africa is something extraordinary and if you can capture it, it can awaken your entire image.

I hope this small compilation of photos can let you see and feel what I saw and felt.

I would be very appreciative of the opportunity to travel to sub-saharan Africa, to go on location and photograph the amazing scenes and animals one would be presented with whilst on safari. Hence, my application!
