Fishing in the Amazon jungle of Ecuador

"Being a fisherman is a way of life, it's not for everyone, but if you chose it you better do it right and know everything there is to know about it" -Osvaldo, 64.

Photos: Fishing in the Amazon jungle of Ecuador

I never appreciated photography as a child. I would think that a good photo was the one that didn’t have my finger in the middle of the way. I didn’t know what a great photograph was until I was 12.
One day my cousin (who was taking a photography class in school) was very excited about a photograph that he had taken and had won him a prize. My grandfather said “it’s a great photo, like the ones in National Geographic, bet you could apply for a job there”, he never did, but since that moment I wondered what a good photograph was. So I asked my granddad for a couple of his National Geographic magazines and the first one I opened had a photo of a man in Afghanistan, I had never been so amazed by a photo before, it was breathtaking!
Since that moment I learned that a good photo is the one that can transmit emotions, one that can make the viewer feel the moment, wonder about it, make them think …
I’ve never done professional photography in my life so I know that my photos may not be the best ones out there, but whenever I take a photo, “a good photo”, I want the people who see it to feel, to experience, travel to that moment, to be there, to be breath taken.
Sincerely,
Pamela Camacho
