A 'place' I have visited

I'm applying for the chance of learning from a skilled and experienced photographer in a field other than what I have naturally found on my own.

Photography caught up with me a year ago for the first time since 9'th grade. I'm a chemist by education but for the past seven years I have worked with one creative outlet after the other. When I held my brand new DSLR in my hand, felt the movement of the lense, looked through the viewfinder and heard the click, I knew I'd come home. When I spend time with my camera I forget everything but the space I photograph. It's like an alternative kind of vision. I want more. I want to learn more and I want to be able to capture much more.

I feel I don't have the technical skill to take shots that would qualify for National Geographic but I believe I can learn. I feel I see motives a little differently and if I didn't, there would be no need to apply. I want to combine my love for details and for seeing the overlooked beauty with being able to shoot images of a different kind, the National Geographic kind. My aim is to touch people's hearts. I believe I have a chance to do just that if I can put the two pieces together and make a whole.
