My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I love life and I think photography is one of the best ways to express that love. My goal when shooting is simply to capture scenes that I personally find interesting. The trouble is I find almost everything interesting, especially when traveling in a new place. My travel addiction did not emerge until I studied abroad in Germany during university. During my studies I met a Turkish guy who invited me to visit Turkey for two weeks over a holiday, and that trip opened my eyes to another part of the world I knew nothing about. As I shot pictures there I wasn’t concerned with how good they were; I just wanted to capture everything. After coming home, I wanted to leave again ASAP. I graduated and got a job designing shirts, but I craved more challenging work, so I applied for the Peace Corps. After 6 months I was invited to serve in Namibia, which I’ve recently completed. Describing those two years is hard. It wasn’t always fun, but it was the most rewarding thing I’ve done. I didn’t change the world, but I did make a difference to a few kids at my school that I will remember for the rest of my life. Now I don’t know what my future holds, but I’m sure whatever it is will not be boring.
