Indonesia consists of many islands and many provinces, and each province has a unique cuisine tradition foods. One of the most famous Indonesia cuisines is cuisine noodle, which has got the process of acculturation from Chinese culture for many decade. I would like to share 3 famous style of cuisine noodles in social life Indonesia that I have ever taken during do traveling at several places in Indonesia :
1. Mie Siantar (Medanese noodle) has characteristic of Medanese Chinese (Hokkien culture) at North Sumatera. The noodle shape is Springy and curly, has served with Char siu (Roast pork), Sweet soy sauce pork, Separate soup,Slices of cabai rawit (Thai Pepper). Mie Siantar is very tasty, spicy, smell good, and give unforgettable taste. Mie Siantar still has original Chinese taste and mix Indonesia spicy taste, and has not considered as halal food
2. Mie Bangka (Bangkanese Noodle) from Bangka Island - Sungai Liat, Pangkal Pinang and Mentok, has characteristic of Bangkanese Chinese (Hakka Culture). The noddle has soft texture, served with Minced pork, Beef meat-ball, fish meat-ball, “fukian” fish cake, mixed soup, “Jeruk kunci” (Bangka Lime), and Salted soy beans (Tauco) pepper. “Mie Bangka” has changed accordance with Muslim consumers, not use pork, use meat chicken
3 Mie Jawa(Javanese Noodle)from Centre of Java and East of Java, has characteristic Javanese Chinese. The noodle is yellow noodle, has served with chicken meat, chicken or duck egg, mixed with soup, cabai rawit (Thai pepper), pickles, sweet soy sauce with cabai rawit. Mie Jawa totally so identical with Pork-free place (halal). and has different taste from other cuisine noodles at above, and Javanese culture has played significant role in influencing its ingredients and performance.
Today Indonesia Noodles already have been labeled as the local cuisine after have got the process of acculturation of Chinese and local Indonesian cultures.
