My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

The photos were taken in Zanzibar in a small village 15 minutes from rich stone town. I was struck by the contrast in wealth and by how genuine and warm the people were, despite the daily struggle of village life. It is still such a cultural melting pot, with the rich and poor living so close and so many religious influences from all over the world in peaceful coexistence; but it is also sad to see that so little is left of the thriving island that had such a global influence in former times.
I am a PR consultant with a deep passion for photography, culture and travel. In the last year I have been working to improve my art with the dream of being able to make a living from my photography. The opportunity to work with and learn from a National Geographic photographer would really be a dream come true.
