      <title>Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited</title>
      <description>Why I should be chosen.

I am proudly South African, it's exceedingly difficult for woman who are truly passionate about travel and photography to do it full time without the backing any magazines in South Africa. I just need a foot in the door which a week of mentoring from yourself would clearly give me.

I am a hard worker and I am very willing to learn and listen to any advice you would give me about my photography.

I initially studied journalism then I found I kept wanting to take better photo which led me down the rabbit hole and its been an amazing ride. The “wow” moment when you realize that you got the shot - it's amazing - then you go back and do it all over again. Pushing the boundaries of my eye, gear, light and settings - that's what I love about it and that it keeps pushing you.

If I am not behind my camera, I am posting pictures on social media or my website, reading textbooks on photography/ traveling , photographic competitions and watching nature and travel programs.

After the mentorship - I want to be able to approach magazines show them my portfolio and work my way up to being a full time travel photographer then hopefully be in a position to give back.

      <title>Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited</title>
      <description>Mozambique living...

My love affair with photography began when I was a child and I started taking photographs on field trips with a point and shoot. I was very intrigued from an early age as to how the picture was captured then developed onto photographic paper.

I originally studied journalism but my passion has always been photography. I have bought numerous reference books and more equipment. I have also attended part time courses and workshops including one with Jim Richardson, which further motivated me. I am currently studying towards my photography degree part time via correspondence through OCA - UK.

I believe you have to blend technical knowledge of photography with the ability to see a beautiful image, which is what drives me. It’s a combination of science and art. The more I learn, the more I can accurately express what I am trying to convey in my photographs. To be able to spend time in the field with a professional like yourself would enable me to understand what makes a shot perfect, which would boost my self-confidence.

I would love to combine my love for travel and photography into a career but I also want to make a difference with my photography.
