Self, as an individual, as introduced to human, named Naimul Islam; I am blessed by almighty and conceited to be Bangladeshi. Bangladesh is a country of 160 millions of population with high biodiversity and natural resources in its womb. This is not about getting influenced from friends and closer people but heritably that, I am ordinary nature devotee human being. Growing up in a small town, Northern Bangladesh, and advancing ownself in megacity like Dhaka was highly constructive to develop the identity.

At the beginning of my professional career, during B. Sc final year, served my effort as volunteer in Biodiversity Conservation project in reserve forests with. I did my bachelor on Environmental Science from North South University, Dhaka and current M. Sc student of Natural Resource and Disaster Management at Independent University of Bangladesh. I have spent around five years in search of the scholarship from the nature to enhance own knowledge. Institutional education assisted me to widen the lens of my heart. When peoples are straggling here in Bangladesh to have two time meals in a day, than it is multifaceted challenge for managers to protect ecosystem.

Currently, I have been working as a manager in a dedicated Civil Society Organization recognized as Bangladesh Disaster Preparedness Centre (www.bdpc.org.bd) focused on reducing community risk towards adverse occurrences and improve livelihood which also able to amplify environmental knowledge. As part of my job in different remote areas of Bangladesh, I have led couple of successful community based development activities, which are particularly helping deprived community to augment their livelihood with the limited available resources. In addition to livelihood, ecosystem restoration was another imperative cause for initiating those works. Besides my job, during affordable time I do try to capture nature through my lens. I am purely armature photographer. This is what I do out of interest because shooting cannot feed me or better to explain like, as a young social worker it’s completely luxuriousness to invest time for photography.

I am completely pro-nature individual. I do manage time for outing, whenever get the proper opportunity. At the beginning of 2013, in January, I had such a great chance to run out for one morning to a wetland where millions of migratory birds come during winter season. It was amazing start of 2013. I, along with my bosom companion have started our New Year journey with the bird-watching (certainly recreational) at Baikka Beal (wetland) in Sreemongol (North-eastern Bangladesh). The morning of 2nd January 2013 was astonishing. Opportunely, that morning was less misty and the surrounding weather was obliging. Within only three hours, I found more than 500 snaps in my memory cards. There were millions of birds of around fifty different species. I was surprised, as I never seen that much flying exquisiteness together in past. There were so many kinds of them, from common kingfisher to rare oriental darter. To some extent, the sunlight was also favorable and luckily we had couple hour’s long small wooden boat journey through the wetland after the birds. One local guide, who knows almost all the birds like a father, accompanied us at that magnificent morning.

I never liked such a sunny day for going out and visiting extreme remote area, in addition, which is a border area and surrounded by hills. For some unavoidable excuses, I had to visit Tripura Gram (tribal community/village) located at the edge of India and the nearest urban locality of Bangladesh is around 50 miles away. The rural muddy road along with the frantic jeep journey made that morning inglorious. Within few minutes the monotonousness changed dramatically when we reached Tripura gram, 13 March 2010, all Tripuras were gathering there to celebrate their annual function in the open field. The program is called “Tripuresshori”, when people sacrifice their livestock for the name of their god. Their culture, motivation, believes and punctuation stunned me a lot. This disadvantaged group of ethnic people is struggling at the every step of their life, but their spirit and trustfulness is incredible. Here these peoples live as forest villagers without having any kind of contemporary facilities like electricity, medical support, education and transportation. We had to walk for couple of hours to reach Tripura Gram. I doubt that the mud made god cannot understand their appeal, but the peoples amazing spiritual thoughts are truly trustworthy. I am Naimul Islam; do not try to miss a single opportunity to visit anywhere and catch the moment of existence through my lens. I do cry for the perfect light and moment to capture the greatest snap. Not all birds’ calls reach to ear, but I want to reach there to hear the call and photograph the bird as well. Hope, one day I will have that awesome second. I believe, where there is will there is a way. Photography is my passion and I want to be a photographer.
