Misty morning light and red deer magic

I would like to be chosen because although I live in London and work full time, I crave being out on the road recording what I see. I would like the chance to improve my photography, learn, push myself to become more creative, open my mind to new ways of doing things and I relish the opportunity to be immersed in different situations with my camera - just to see what I could really be capable of.

I was originally a fine artist and then worked as a nursery teacher for 12 years before becoming a web designer, then went to commerce and online marketing, where I have spent the last 14 years - I use all the money I earn to travel. I live to travel, not only far and away, but also to spend my spare time with the wonders of nature nearby, hence my entries being from a London park. Being so unknown, I would like to shine as a photographer, bring my creative and people-skills together as one, and contribute to the larger picture of how people can see the world in new and different ways.

Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited. Mukti Ashram, Northern Delhi.

These photos show rescued child labourers, trafficked to Delhi. They worked long days for no pay, endured physical and mental abuse and rarely saw daylight.

This special place immediately adopts legal guardianship of the boys, begins the process of prosecuting the employers and starts to trace their families. It provides immediate medical help, food, clothing, basic education, safety, time to play again and most importantly love.

I look for photographs that convey what I see and how I feel about where I am and who I've met. I am continually struck by the warmth and humanity of people, even in the most desolate of circumstances.

I am interested in exploring the idea that there can be great beauty within terrible situations. I am interested in capturing the strength of human nature.

I am originally a fine artist. I then worked as a nursery teacher for 12 years before becoming a web designer, then went to ecommerce management, where I have spent the last 12 years corporately. I was recently made redundant. Now is my time to shine as a photographer - I hope to bring my unique people-skills and life experiences to the people of the Oman and to contribute to the resulting images
