My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I purchased my first SLR camera when I was 19 and was hooked instantly. I soon acquired a set of lenses and anything else I could afford for my kit. I would take pictures of everything and anyone. I would go on holidays planned around pictures that I could take of the area and the people that where there. I am constantly learning and trying different ideas. When I look at a picture I wonder, what was it like when it was taken, how did the photographer feel, what was involved in getting the shot, would I have taken it differently.
I love to travel both at home and abroad to meet people, see different cultures, learn about new things. I have always had the urge to travel and record the things around me, the emotions and sights. Some of the places I have been have changed or been totally wiped out, some of the people I have meet are gone and traditions and cultures are fading out being lost in the ever increasing rush into the future, animal habitats are being destroyed and lost forever, these are the things I love to see and capture.
