Here is a photo of one of the many beautiful sunsets I've seen on this trip. This sunset is in Koh Tao!

We found paradise

Here is a picture of the most beautiful beach I've seen yet, and it wasn't easy getting there. We set out for an adventure one day on Koh Phangan to find a waterfall called Than Sadet Waterfall. We rode in the back of a pick-up down a windy road in the jungle to the top of a huge hill. The driver just dropped us off at this tiny hut that sold water and banana chips and said he'd come back for us in 2 hours. We saw a small sign pointing to the waterfall but it wasn't as amazing as we expected. Just a short hike to a river with a tiny waterfall. Still fun but not satisfying. So we saw another sign that said this way to the beach. Someone had told us that it was only about 2kms to get to the beach so off we went down this mud road that was steeply down hill. Well they were wrong, after 2 hours of hiking and checking out a really cool viewpoint we finally saw the beach and it was so beautiful! We ran for the water as it was a million degrees outside and we were drenched in sweat. Thank gos there was food there and we got a ride back!

I survived the Full Moon Party!

We decided that since we were on the same island as the Full Moon Party when it was going on that, we had to check it out! I was scared at first but I'm so glad we went. What an experience it was. Getting ready and all painted up was half of the fun. We piled into a big bus full of tourists to get there and when we arrived, so much excitement poored in. The party is on a huge beach in Haad Rin. Kind of reminded me of Las Vegas but the strip is on a beach. It was really beautiful and amazing to see. We danced outside all the different bars with different music blasting, watched some fire show and are deliciois street/beach food! So awesome:)

Haad Salad was a beach and a small little village down the road from our retreat. It kind of felt like our new home as we speant so much time the rand really got to know the locals. We had our regular eating spotd where the waiters knew what we ordered. There' also a beautiful beach there where we spent many hours floating around and paddle boarding! Check out my photo album for more photos!

After 2 weeks of yoga at the Retreat it is time for us to move on. What a great experience it was! So many new friends and new ways to look at the world:). In the last week I had 2 Reiki treatments and a tarot card reading, very cool. Here's a picture of some of the yogi crew! People from Peru, England, Australia etc.

Here is a photo of where I do yoga classes twice per day. The studio faces the jungle and we can hear all the sounds of the animals and trees as we practive yoga. The humidity makes it feel like we are in a hot yoga class. We also have meditation courses abf lectures in this room. :)

Haad Salad - Our new home for now

After a one night stay in a slightly sketchy hotel in the jungle, we made it to our yoga retreat where we will be for the next 2 weeks! Today was our first day of yoga. Our schedule consisted of an hour and a half of Ashtanga Yoga (soo freakin hard) in the morning, an hour and a half of Hatha Yoga in the afternoon and 45 minutes of meditation seminar. My whole body is in pain, but it's a good pain. The other travellers here are very friendly and from all over the world. We went out for dinner with about 5 of them lastnight at Haad Salad Beach, very cheap and yummy.

In between yoga classes we walked to a near by beach called Koh Ma, which is shown in the picture above. Absolutely beautiful! There is an island with a sand bar connecting it to the shore and beautiful turquoise sand. Had to run for cover from a few flashes of intense rain! The walk back was also intense, about 25 minutes uphill! Totally worth it though :)

Rookie backpackers in Surat Thani :)

We made it to our destination with no unexpected set backs!!! What a shocker. We decided to wall to our first resort (about a 30 minute trek). Ofcourse we stopped for a beer and some curry along the way, again it was delish! Got slightly lost on our way to the resort but managed to find it after a few U-turns. The Sabbai Bay resort was very cute amd had an infinity pool right on the water! And shoes were not allowed when walking around the resort. Had some pool time and a nap the headed for dinner, curry again for me:) Saw my first cockroach in the toilet eeeek he was a big guy. The next day we were off to he next resort after a morning swim and a yummy pad thai breakfast. Life is good :)

Sleeper train cruising

The sleeper train was definately an interesting experience... we got to the train and went to our asigned seats where we would be for 12 hours straight, 7pm to 7am. About an hour into our ride a man came around and set up our beds. I actually slept like a baby. Finallywe arrived to Surat Thani, then we took an hour long bus rideto the ferry. Never ending travel... The ferry was 2 hours long so we had a well deserved beer and played some cards before we made it to Koh Phangan!

Touched down in Bangkok safe and sound! I'd say we got about 4 hours sleep in 27 hours. Finally met up with Jolene in the airport, everyone was exhausted. Now to find our way to the train station...was definately interesting. After a crazy taxi ride, a long walk in the stifling heat and a ride on the tram we managed to find our way with about 7 hours to spare. To kill some time we took our first tuk tuk to China Town where we ate some noodles and got our first Thai massage, a very hilarious but enjoyable experience. The little Thai lady was alot stronger than she looked! At one point she was completely on top of me bending my body in half but it felt great!
