Inspiration, this doc stemmed out of friendship and something telling me to “just do it!” I am friends of BWB and was there from the very beginning. I talked about documenting the progress as we all had no idea what was going to happen, though all believed in the purpose of BWB. Thus it began. To be honest there has been no real “planning”, it has just been me continuously asking them what was next, and showing up on my own to whatever was happening to collect footage, more and more footage. Challenges have been some audio and no budget.
I am a cinematographer and photographer who has been drawn to real life visual story telling/documentation for as long as I can remember. My guide has been the vision. What I see. The verbal story telling comes second for me. I find myself called more and more to come out from behind the camera and connect with the stories, the people, the land. To give a voice. So, I feel I am surrendering to this calling steadily though I know I need guidance. It is my greatest ambition as a doc maker to give a voice and create change.
