Fogcouver, er... Vancouver

Growing up in a conservative town I put nature aside for economics, put my camera away for a pen and paper, and forgot about the way I felt in nature.
I suppose my business degree is partially what I have to thank for nature’s resurgence in my life. While in school I worked in Lake Louise, Alberta. Watching the sun rise and see the sunlight cascade down the mountain before illuminating the red canoes dotting the lake's surface became the real reason I woke up every morning.
After I finished my final year I was moved to Vancouver for work. It was also during this stay that I met a partner who he helped me realize a career in hotels was not right for me when she saw my passion for nature, even when I couldn’t. Shortly after, I quit my job.
After arriving back in my home town I found a program called Environmental Visual Communication. Thinking I had a slight chance of acceptance I applied anyways.
On November 22nd my parents thanked the dean of my program because they had “never seen Matt work so passionately for something.” I want my photography to reframe how people view nature and remind them it isn't simply “where no humans are.”

This will be my purpose.
