Milan and Nice

Entered the train. Lots of italians arround. And I still do not speak any of it. Chosen a place at the window. Took out my book and started to read. Soon enough a nordic looking guy followed by a plesant italian girl joined me and we departed.

I was not keen on starting the convesation, since I wanted to watch them and desired to see their signs and exprecions. But then again, after an hour or two we sat there, like we know each other for hundred of centuries, chatting about life, destiny, our goals and destinations.

AT (the nordic guy from Norway) was heading my direction and so, leaving our new italian exchanging adresses, we both went for a short trip arround Milan. Then, not finding it all to plesant for a stay, decided to go to Nice.

And again,- the question of hotel arrised. But I knew better now, so it was the first priority for us. After that we took a tour arround the city and went to the beach.

It was night already and sitting at the beach I've heard AT saying that he never ever has been swimming at night. I thought of it as a tempting challenge, though it has not been one really, but I said lets go and so we run into the deep dark sea. Swimming there we've seen the moonlight and the city. What a great moment it is to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Just like making the easy dreams come true.

My Scholarship entry - Giving back on the road

So … here I finally go – holding my inter-rail ticket for a month. Goal – travel as much as I can through the old continent. 1000 Euro, a tent and a 20 kg backpack with a copy of the book ‘On the Road’ written by J. Kerouac in it, with me. So many people now like the comfort of plane but I prefer trains, simply because they leave us the possibility to actually talk to people and get to know them better. And that is fantastic, especially since I’m all alone on my journey.

Rushed into the train in Berlin and got out in Roma where I contacted an acquaintance of mine, to book her for the evening. The day been hot, the city felt old and dusty but still,- it is one of the favorite destinations in Europe, so I decided not to hush with my judgment.

I took the map and hastily run through the streets. What is a day for sightseeing in a city with so many monuments? Besides, I was in the desperate search for a hostel. Ancient Rome tour was done and, sitting on a hill in the middle of nowhere I actually realized Im a homeless person for tonight and yet - am at home on each street. I was so taken by the city that I actually forgot that I have to find a shelter. I called my Italian acquaintance and she was kind enough to offer me a sleeping place in her car.

We started the night tour in Rome. We took a coffee at a tiny cafe place on a side street and walked down the river. The scent of Rome changed. Life music, street lights, people dancing and simply enjoying themselves. Just amazing! I actually heard that Rome is better at night but I never expected it to be that good…

Woke up in my new residence(the car). I felt like a very rich homeless person!

Wow. I’ve been to Rome! Just heard my train arriving – clothes changed, everything’s packed and I am ready to depart. Next stop is Milan. I wonder if it is possible to take a shower in the train. Tell you about it when I’m done:)
