13/02/15 - Snorkeling and Boss Chicks Only

sitting here in morning making butter with our cream, cooking bacon, eggs n toast. yesterday our group went on a day long snorkel adventure. we boated out to an island on a reef. snorkeled from the beach. had chicken with rice and beans for lunch. got back on the boats and went a click or two away to snorkel in another part of the reef. lots of people saw sharks and rays. i wasn't that lucky. lots of pretty fish though. and the sun beams shing through the clear tropical water onto the coral was gourgeous. when i finished snorkeling and climbed back onto the boat, i laid down on the bow, the rocking of the boat underneath me was the greatest. could've laid there for hours.

boating back to placencia the sun was shining through clouds, creating the most sunbeams i've seen at once.

that night a bunch of us went to street feet, a local club. it was boss chicks only night. we started the dancing, and were the only ones dancing the whole time we stayed. think the locals were a little weired out by our crazy dancing.

11/02/15 - Through US, First Day in Belize

met up with penny, natasha, jenn, and sarah at airport after uncle jimmy left for his flight. and so began the long night of flying in jet planes and hanging out in ridiculously large airports.

landed in belize, we all got a few boxes of booze between us in the duty free shop. went through customs and met up with more of our gang who had come from joy's farm to pick us up on the way to placencia. joy had hired a van to transport us all there, along with her old toyota pickup. had a nice drive through belizian countryside. stopped at one point to pick up some pineapple from a local. kelly introduced himself as guy lafleur. was pretty funny.

got to placencia, found our place. it's pretty swanky. we kinda splurged (me, my parents, and my bro) because why not? we each pay for just one night.

we all went to the barefoot bar for dinner, some drinks, and dancing. afterwards a group of us went looking for ice cream, ended up running to find it before it closed within ten minutes. locals were all cheering us on as we ran through the streets. made it in time, ice cream was good. was a good night.

now just relaxing on balcony with family, sipping on morning coffee. this hammock is comfy. life is good.

08/02/15 - Vancouver

left rup today. landed in vancouver and took the skytrain downtown. first time on the skytrain. was really neat. i marvelled at the effort, cooperation, and engineering that went not only into building the public transit system of the vancouver region, but the planning of where best to put what, to make the system as effective as possible.

anyways, got a sweet MEC backpack in which i'll be storing the material part of my life for the duration of this trip. jumped on a ferry to north van. lonsdale quay. nice spot. there was a street musician, had wild ginger hair, full beard. he reminded me of character you might see in a show about vikings. had an intense gaze while he rocked a rustic banjo. very talented, had me grooving.

met up with ma and pa. had dinner with a bunch of family that i hadn't seen in a while. met my uncle jimmy practically for the first time (other times i was too young to remember). was fun to watch the similarities between him and my dad, and the mannerisms they share. staying at aunty mary and uncle peter's lovely west van house for the night. tomorrow we leave the country.
