Since my adolescence I’ve sought to uncover the lesser-known parts of urban and natural environments in Australia and abroad. Being able to document these locations allows me to creatively interpret these experiences and communicate with a broader audience. Photography has been my long-standing passion and I am committed to pursuing this as my profession. Given that this is a difficult career to forge, this scholarship would be an incredible introduction to beginning my own professional practice. It is my hope that in the future I will be able to communicate the often-overlooked stories and societies of the world’s people through photography and that this be a means for political and social change in the developed nations of the world. I feel myself to be a culturally sensitive and well-meaning person and believe that images still hold the potential to alter the public perception and precipitate change. Though I have long been committed to photography, there is much I still have to learn and would gain from a professional mentor.
