Hood. It is a unique waterfall compared to others around Mt. It is about a ten mile hike into the ridge so it is pretty far into the backcountry wilderness. These are just some pics of the Ridge, Mt. Hood and the Muddy Fork River. Crossing the river was awesome because I was in a valley with McNeil Point to me left, Yokum Ridge to my right and Mt. Hood right in front of me. Hood. It took us about 4 hours to hike up to it. The area is really neat because we were at 10,200 feet elevation. We were also by a fumarole which is a vent in the mountain which releases carbon dioxide and sulfur. The fumaroles produce a neon yellow color. I didnt really do much hiking, but I did take alot of pictures. On the way down we stopped in Deschutes National Forest and on the way back we stop in the city of Bend to visit a lava tunnel. I think this is the best hike I have been on since arriving in Oregon. We were on the North side of the mountain so it was a different area than I have been to thus far. There are 7 different waterfalls located on the trail, so it is a really entertaining trail to hike. We took our time and actually camped out for night to enjoy the area.
