A 'place' I have visited

Hi…My name is Marwanee J.Malik. For your easier, call me U.R. I am Thai. I finished my degree at a university in Thailand. And I am now working as a magazine writer in Bangkok. What I want to tell you more about me is that I love traveling, reading, and writing. While traveling, I also love photography. Even though, I am not a professional, not at all. I have traveled to many most beautiful places in my country. Nevertheless, I never have chance to visit other places far from my country, except some neighbors. Even I extremely want to see what they look like outside the screen. I like to follow the TV programs which display the world and the wonderful places. It later inspires me to visit them. And I think I could, one day. It’s actually about the expense. I may need a large budget for any trips to any oversea countries. That’s quite a big problem for me. My friend always says that with a small salary, I need to struggle to get that. I think so. But we always have the same topic to chat that’s about traveling. Last, I have only a normal digital camera. But I can have beautiful and fantastic shots. I have techniques. I know how to make a normal scene becomes an awesome one.

Catching a Moment - Stay Home at Homestay: Days to Remember

It was just a short moment of those days that experienced me most and long-lasting.

A small bamboo hut on the top of the hill was where I spent and experienced the hill tribe ways of life. For more than 2 weeks on the hill with tribal folk and wild life. People there were lovely, friendly and sincere. I could feel it from their reaction and nice hospitality.

It’s in fact I came here for some purpose that was to do eco-tourism research for my study. That’s why my friends and I stayed at “Pumeun Village”, Chiangrai, Thailand.

The Musser believes in the soul, a house spirit, nature spirits and a supreme being who is administered to by a priest. Although many Mussers have now adopted Christianity, their own beliefs in a Supreme are being and many spirits remain strong.

A grand old man of the village said “The Musser long for the blessings of this life and the next, for things that are good and pleasant and in accordance with the message of an old legend, men are particularly caring of their partners.”

There are about 60,000 Lahu in Thailand. Thai people call the Lahu "Musser" because of their skills at hunting in the forest. They started arriving at the early of the twentieth century. Several different clans are distinguished by their dress.

The Musser tends to wear ordinary clothes for everyday life, reserving their costumes for ceremonial occasions. Even though, their traditional clothing is black with bold embroidered patterns and bands of cloth for decoration. The trims of sleeves, pockets and lapels are often decorated, with each subgroup using different colors.

One night, they showed and invited us to join their ceremony and dancing. Instead of using electrical light, they started their motorcycles to lighten the place. Music and dancing are an important part of most of hill tribe culture included Musser. They do a round dance and people of all ages, male and female partake in the dance, especially at the Musser (Chinese) New Year which occurs around the first full moon in February and lasts five days. Also we joined them at the dance. We follow the circle imitated them.
My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

The trekking to the second highest Mount of Thailand (Phahompok) is so much interesting for me. We started the wonderful journey from a little cute village that is located on the lower land. That means we had to walk to the higher and higher land. While we walked through the small path, we could see many strange but beautiful flowers and also lovely orchids. And I was surprised with that wonderful waterfall that flows never end.
The beautiful nature with the fresh air is available in that forest. The weather that always changes in every 10 minutes will make you feel different although you are still in that place. And also you can hear various kind of bird, may some of them are new for you, are singing. You will forget of Joshua Radin's sweet songs at that moment. And if you are lucky, you may meet with muntjac, a kind of deer that is original from South East Asia, but I was not lucky on that day.
Finally, I won that hard long journey, it’s hard for me only I think. After I climbed to the top I forgot all my hungriness and tiredness. I saw that thick milk smoke covered the ground and the places around. I am happy so much that I kept my journey went on till I found the end.

Let's have hard a journey to see the final bright.
