My name is Agnes Koresy from Indonesia. Just before starting my first year of elementary school in 1994, I celebrated my 6th birthday. My grandfather gave me a photographic film camera as my birthday present and he taught me how to use it. I can never thank him enough. He introduced me to the world of photography, and one lesson I never forget was when he said “photography is not simply about taking picture, it is about capturing and sharing the moment with other people”. That day, he ignited my passion in life.

Although ever since that day I dreamed to be a photographer, my parents strongly disagreed and I ended up studying architecture. After graduating in 2010, I took a short break and traveled around Asia with my savings. I was instinctively reunited with my camera and became inseparable from it. My passion was re-ignited.

When I received the email about the travel photography scholarship yesterday, I knew I had to do something. This is my chance to be mentored by a famous photographer, Jason Edwards and to be a photographer that I have dreamed for a long time. So, let my passion flows, capture the moment and share every story there is to tell.

My name is Agnes Koresy from Indonesia. Back in 1994, when I was in 1st grade on my elementary school, my grandfather bought me a camera film as my birthday present. He taught me how to take picture with it. He told me photography is not about simply taking picture but it’s about capturing and sharing the moment with other people. I was so thankful, I have a grandfather who introduced me to the world of photography and helped me find my passion in life. After since, I decided I want to become a photographer someday, but my parents didn't agree. They told me that I can pursue my passion become a photographer using my own money, therefore I am working abroad fighting for my dream as an architect . It’s been 8 months I live independent here. A month ago, I accidentally found this travel photography scholarship on the internet. So I thought this is my change to be mentored by a very famous photographer, Jason Edwards. This is my change to become a photographer, my passion since I was a little girl. I want to share every moment that I see in my life by capturing it on a photo and make a story.
