After many years of a grief process I can finally say I’m moving on. During that period, photography started to be a way for me to see the world - I struggled when it came to photographing people, letting my guard down and allowing for that connection to occur. Last year, after obtaining my degree in anthropology, I decided to travel to South Africa to improve my photography skills, focusing on wildlife and landscape. The reason why I want this scholarship is because I will take advantage of it in every way: learn about culture by getting to experiment it first hand, grow as a photographer, traveler, writer. This scholarship would allow me to photograph people like I haven’t done so before. During my trip to South Africa I realized how much I enjoy meeting and learning about people and cultures, and now I wish to be able to capture this in images.
