medivacations, beware

Thailand is known worldwide as one of the best for combining medical needs with vacations. They will change your sexual gender and put your family in a very comfortable environment to enjoy everything while you are ...doing what you're doing.

But beware. The costs are so reasonable you might do things you hadnt planned on.

I was found to have a cancerous lesion on my lip. Something drs in Hawaii, of all places, could not figure out in a year. sigh. After have several experiences in this country with medical situations I felt quite comfortable with having my problem resolved here. I went to a hospital I was very familiar with feeling very comfortable, only to be told, after the fact, that Thais only used tylenol after getting a sleeping pill, novicaine, having a clamp snapped onto my lip and my entire lip removed.

No. I didnt ask what they were going to do. I asked for a certain pain pill, assuming. The hospital that did the biopsy was as was my previous experiences, gentle and kind. I went to Bangkok to this hospital which sees, 1,000 foreignors a day...to be traumatised beyond belief. Its been 3 months now. A friend from home has been telling me whats happening with the healing. The drs at home were clueless, the dr who did the surgery brutal and uninforming, except to say, "well, its only pain. Its infection we're concerned with".

Ask questions. You will be amazed at the care you receive, most of the time.
