Teenage life in Zambia

My name is Louise Leth, I am 24 years old and from Denmark. I’m studying photojournalism in the city of Aarhus and my passion is to tell stories about people - and meet them with an open mind. Therefore I have chosen to send you these five photos of the youth in Zambia. I went to the capital, Lusaka, in January this year to photograph and interview teenagers about their lives. I wanted to tell a daily life story from a continent that is often associated with major humanitarian problems. Even though I also want to enlighten the more serious subjects, I feel it is sometimes important to look at the similarities, which is why I choose to make a story that could take place anywhere. Teenage life in Denmark is actually not that different from the one I have meet in Zambia.
I decided to make this my ongoing project and have spend the past three months in USA and now I am in Mexico to photograph teenage life.
In the future I would like to do travel photography and focus on the stories that I find important to tell.
