Contiki!!

Hello all! Well I am almost at the end of my Contiki tour, and although I can't put pictures up right now, I thought I would just give you a brief run down of some of the highlights of my tour:

* White water rafting in Austria

* Paris! Ahh just so beautiful!

* Italian gelati...had the best stuff ever in Florence!

* Making a snowman at the top of Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland

* Going on a gondala in Venice - AHH amazing!!

* Having a picnic on top of a hill in the French countryside...ahh so relaxing!

* Dressing up in stupid outfits for our 'party nights'

* Meeting lots of cool people (a very different crowd to what you might picture a typical Contiki group to be!)

* Learning how to say random words in several languages

* Getting off the coach at the end of a long travel day

* Dancing up a storm in every country!

* Shopping...mmm yes, shopping

I will try and do a proper but still brief (I hope!) update and will definately add some pics to make it more interesting, but until then ciao and talk to you all soon!

Lou xox

Copenhagen

Hello again! Well yesterday myself, Ashley and Anna ventured across the to Denmark for some sightseeing in Copenhagen. Takes about 20 mins on the train, so it's less than heading into the city from Ringwood!

We wandered into the main square and there was a massive international soccer championship thing going on which was kinda cool. I think it was teams of four and there were teams from all over the world...including Oz! One of the games was between Kazikstan and USA which was kinda funny in light of Borat...

Anyhoo, we wandered through some park and went to the Botanic gardens which were beautiful. There's a massive greenhouse there and you can go inside and up this little staircase to the top but it was SO hot and humid in there that we didn't stay long!

We found our way to some royal palace thing complete with a moat and guarded by young guys with crew cuts carying large guns! It started POURING with rain which wasn't the greatest but we ended up meeting these four Danish guys who work/volunteer as palace guards and they only get 12 kroner an hour (about 2 dollars something) and they work on 24 hour shifts! Apparently they spend most of the time polishing their bags and shoes. Strange job but it was fun talking to them...they were also extremely tall which you can see in the photos!

Wandered around most of the day looking at pretty buildings and had a hot chocolate by the canal where they cute rows of coloured buildings are. How very European!

Took the train back, had a nice pasta for tea with the "family" and watched the Matrix! All in all, a good day was had...although I wish this disgusting weather would go away! Cross your fingers and toes for me...

Malmö University

I can't add any photos right now but just thought I would pop in to say hållo and that I'm still alive! Summer school has been okay so far but it's kind of a bummer to have to research and do work when you just want to explore the outside world :) Tomorrow is our last day with all the European students cause they all leave on Saturday :( Then it's just us Aussies for another week then onto Stockholm for a few days of sight-seeing! Yay! Went to the beach at about 10pm last night and it was really nice...hoping to go back in the next couple of days when we can see a bit more :) Hope everyone is well..I better get back to class!

Lou xox

Okay well as you can see, I've added some photos of Malmo and the summer school people for your viewing enjoyment! Please feel free to add comments and make me feel like I'm not wasting my time writing all this stuff ;)

Sweden yar?

Hey Hey all, well I'm in Sweden now and it's fantastic! Had a fun time in London and did some more touristy things like London Bridge, Lesicester Square etc but it was nice to escape the torrential rain that came through on Friday! Had to take the 4:40am coach to the airport which was not fun but I think I've overcome my second round of jet lag!

Sweden was beautiful and sunny on arrival but it wasn't that crash hot today. We've just had orientation and a walking tour of Malmo which is a very nice city. Met lots of cool ppl already (mainly Aussies!) and we've just been hanging out and having lots of fun.

Tomorrow we do a viking tour then go to the beach which should be fun. The program starts on Monday though, so it's heads down bums up time for me! I'm currently using the "stolen" internet connection on one of the guys' laptops (looks like some Swedish person forgot to disconnect their internet when they left...lucky us!)

The accomodation here is great - we all get our own rooms with ensuites and everything! Ahh this is the life :)

Anyways, there are other ppl waiting for the comp so I should go but I will write again in a little while. Miss you all lots and love you loads!

Louise :)

London

Well this is the second time I'm writing this thanks to the cable that was supposedly charging this laptop not actually being pushed in far enough...sigh.

Anyways, here's what I've been up to so far...

* Arrived at Heathrow around 5:30am
* Somehow successfully found my way to Simone's place
* Met up with Mike & Ange from school at a pub where we were met by Adam (Kim's cousin)
* Went to Buckingham Palace to visit the Queen...she was not amused
* Went to another pub (It's okay, I only had diet pepsi!)
* Met Simone after work and went out for dinner at this very cool dim sung (?) place called Ping Pong
(NOTE: kinda like a yum cha restaurant, only you order what you want from the menu rather than pick it off a cart, then they bring it all out. Turns out our waiter was from Melbourne so we got 2 free drinks each and dessert for free! I love Australians)
* Took the train home from Waterloo station
* Went to bed around 11:30pm...phew!

So now I'm making my first travel journal and trying to pysche myself up for a shower which will eventually lead to me leaving Simone's apartment to check out Putney and hunt down cheap hand bags.

Hope you're all well. Take a look at my photos and I'll keep you updated with my travels to Sweden on Friday!
