I have moved on thankfully. I honestly had no idea what kind of photographer I wanted to be, or what I wanted to take photos of until last year when I travelled to India, and had my eyes opened by the terrific beauty of the country and its people. I was overwhelmed by the poverty I saw, and challenges that most people back home wouldn’t even be able to conceive. These experiences have subsequently influenced me to perceive the power that photography can have, and how telling the stories of a few, may just make a difference for the many. Receiving the Scholarship to work alongside Jason Edwards would provide invaluable experience, and an opportunity that I will take on board with the upmost appreciation. Every minute, every piece of advice and every hour of mentoring, I will take onboard and implement without hesitation. It was adventures like this where I earned my reputation as being that constantly annoying kid with the wind up camera, which wanted to stop everywhere and capture amazing shots. Nothing would thrill me as much as seeing the photos for the first time. All of the experiences would flood back....and that feeling is one hard to describe, but still happens today, the serarch for that feeling, drives me to that better shot. Now, all grown up, nothing much has changed, only the camera is a lot bigger, and the passion I have to turn those photos of amazing places, into amazing shots, brings out the child in me, and the professional that I want to be. And that is why I love photography. Of all my passions in life, it is the one that has the power to possess my mind and overtake my feelings of place.
